SafariStand: Add a bunch of features to Safari

As you might know, at Mac Kindergarten, Safari is the web browser of our choice. Beside its speed we like the look and feel of it.

Today we will look at a great, free plugin/extension called SafariStand. We will see, how two of its main features, make Safari even faster to use (so there is more time for browsing and less for typing). Tab thumbnails and Quick Searches. (more…)

Replace Safari’s default Google search box

Google has in recent years developed into the search engine. It’s built in into almost every major browser. Our favorite web browser here at Mac Kindergarten is Safari, which is great already by itself (and has this search box, too).

In the following, we will look at a freeware tool which will helps us to make this search box into an instant preview pane for Google search results and thus making Safari even better. Yeah!

Burn CDs/DVDs/Audio CDs with “Burn”

Mac OS X offers built-in support to burn CDs and DVDs. However, it offers limited options. Therefore we will look at a program called “Burn” to, you guessed right, burn CDs, DVDs and Audio CDs.It’s a freeware application (yes, free!), so we at Mac Kindergarten love it. Let’s take a closer look.

Flip4Mac: Play Windows media on your Mac

Perian: Play all kinds of video files

Mac OS X uses QuickTime as the standard for everything in connection with video (file extension: .mov). However, there are situations, when you receive video files that have a different file format and thus can not be played with the standard setup of Mac OS X.
