Quick Tip: Download files that normally open inside Safari

Safari can open a lot of file types for you. PDF files, images, music files - all can be displayed within Safari without the need of downloading it to your Mac and opening them from your Downloads folder.

But what if you want to do that? We show you two easy ways…

Contextual menu

As you see a link to a file, that would normally open inside Safari, control-click it and pick Download Linked File. This will download the file directly to your Downloads folder.

Alt/Option key

There is an even faster method: hold down the alt/option key as you click a link to a file. This will download the file directly to your Downloads folder. No need for a contextual menu.

Please read this post, if you’re not sure which keys control and alt/option are.
