Open your favorite web pages with one click

Bookmark management is really easy in Safari, our web browser of choice.

Everyone has a bunch of favorite site, e.g. Mac Kindergarten, Google, Facebook, you name it. We visit those sites on a regular basis, most of the time as soon as we go online.

But there is no need to enter the addresses of these pages every time you go online. In fact, only one click is needed after this tutorial.

Basic bookmark management

Adding a bookmark in Safari is really easy. Just drag the icon from the address bar to the bookmark bar.

drag favicon

The other bookmarks will slide to the sides and provide space for “the new guy”. Alternatively, from the Bookmarks menu, select Add Bookmark…

Do this now with your favorite sites, if you haven’t done so yet.

Organize your bookmarks

To get an overview of all you bookmarks, from the Bookmarks menu, select Show All Bookmarks.
Or click the bookmarks icon to the very left of the bookmark icon.

This brings up a list of all bookmarks, we created. Now we can organize our bookmarks into folders, so we can open them with a single click.

First, create a folder for you favorites and give it a name. To create a folder, click the plus sign below the list of bookmarks.

Safari add bookmarks folder

Then select and drag the bookmarks to your favorite sites onto this folder. Select multiple items, by holding down the command key, while you click on the items.

Drag mulitple bookmarks

Finally, check the box for Auto-Click for the folder Favorites.

Hide the bookmarks overview again, by clicking on the bookmark icon to the very left of the bookmarks bar or, from the Bookmarks menu select Hide All Bookmarks.

Note how the icon of the folder changed. Regular bookmark folders have a little triangle next to their name, while the Auto-Click folders sport a square, to indicate a click will open multiple items.

From now on, every time you click your Favorites bookmarks folder all site inside this folder will open up. All your favorite sites - only one click away.
