Quick Tip: Instant presentations, playlists and slideshows

QuickLook is one of the great features of Leopard, that make life much easier. But you can not only use it, to quickly preview a file without having to open it.

There is more to it. You can create instant presentations, picture slideshows or movie playlists with QuickLook. All right from Finder. Here is how.

First, select the items you want to use. Look at this post for the basics of selecting stuff.

Press the option key to change the QuickLook icon in Finder into a play icon.

Click this play icon to start a full-screen slideshow.

Media (such as videos or music) will be played until the end, before the slideshow advances. Photos, documents or other still media will advance after 4 seconds.

Use the on-screen controller to play/pause the slideshow and advance it manually with the arrow keys.

Secret hint: Hold down the shift key while you click the index sheet icon…
