Laptop glory: Trackpad gestures

Today we will look at the features of your trackpad has to offer. So far you probably used the trackpad only to move the mouse cursor around.

But there is much more. Come inside and see for yourself.

To access all the hidden gems of your trackpad, open System Preferences and go to the Keyboard and Mouse section.

First, let’s look at the gesture section of the trackpad preferences:

Trackpad Prefs - Gestures

You see the option use two fingers to scroll. This means you can place two fingers on your trackpad and move them on your trackpad to scroll, for example, up/down a webpage or a document. You never have to reach for those handles on the side again.

Check the box at Clicking, to perform a regular click, when tapping your trackpad.

Finally, check out the option Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click. It allows you to perform a secondary click (= control-click) to bring up the contextual menu. So you don’t have to reach for the control-key again to perform that click. Very handy.

That was a quick one for today. Explore the other Preferences, adjust the speeds to your needs. Go on and play!
